Ramfoam is the UK’s leading manufacturer, converter and supplier of polyurethane and polyethylene foam. Established as a privately owned SME in 1995, Ramfoam operates two sites in Tividale, West Midlands (their main site and their dedicated RamfoamCare PPE facility) which serves the UK and Europe, and one in Dubai, UAE, which serves the Middle East.
When COVID-19 hit the UK, everything changed for Ramfoam. They were faced with the challenge of quickly adapting and the senior team knew they had to do something to help the NHS with its growing shortage of PPE.
With significant experience in converting medical-grade foam products for the healthcare market in numerous applications, the company began research into how they could use foam strips in face visors. After an intense period of design and testing, the team developed the RamfoamCare+ Protective Visor in a matter of weeks.
The product – which can be assembled by users in seconds – features a latex-free, hypoallergenic foam headpiece, attached to a replaceable, optically clear, anti-fog visor. All the components are made in the UK, using British materials, and are fully recyclable.
In May 2020, Ramfoam was awarded a contract from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to produce three million RamfoamCare+ Face Visors per week.
